Stamford has its share of amazing, homestyle pizza restaurants at every block. When you’re in the mood for a cheesy, nostalgic slice of deliciousness, your craving will not be hard to suffice! Since we have lived in Stamford, we have frequented Westover Pizzeria, which always has the best quality, best tasting pizza and Italian food we can find. Now with two locations (One on Stillwater Avenue near the Boys and Girls Club, and the other on Hope Street), I promise that this will be the best pizza you can find! The staff and service is always amazing, quick, and friendly, and although this is more of a grab and go kind of place, you can stay in and enjoy your meal as well. Being family friends with the owners of Westover, we can assure you that this is truly a family business. The father of our friend who owns this restaurant started Michael’s Pizzeria in Shippan, which has been a staple of the Stamford pizza scene for over 50 years. This is honestly the real deal of Italian American cuisine, and family experience guarantees an amazing meal every single time! The pizza is thin crust, covered in ooey gooey mozzarella and all of the toppings you can enjoy, and always made fresh. If you’re not in the mood for pizza, you can find a bounty of pasta dishes, salads and soups, appetizers like the crisp fried calamari and buttery, spicy garlic knots, and many others. We love the eggplant and chicken parmesan subs, which are hot and packed with flavor, crunchy and melting all at the same time. The chicken scarpiello is spicy and perfect for a cold night, and the tortellini are always cooked al dente and melt in your mouth. For now, and the hot summer to come, the fresh served italian ice will brighten anyone's day, and they also have a selection of house made desserts, cannoli’s, and brownies that are a perfect follow up for a great Italian meal. When you are in Stamford, and thinking about that ideal slice of pizza or home cooked Italian meal like your grandma used to make, call up Westover Pizzeria, and you will not be disappointed!
